READ IT AGAIN, SAM!

Alene Schlereth, first grade teacher at Lily Lake School, proposed the Reading Parent Program needed help in order to continue its support of young readers. Every morning a trained parent volunteer listens to each first grade student read his/her book. Repeated readings help emerging readers retain skills and increase fluency. With the help of the Foundation’s grant, the program’s enhanced collection of independent reading books will address students’ diverse interests and reading levels.
