Congratulations to the Class of 2016 Central Education Foundation Scholarship Recipients
The Central Education Foundation is pleased to be able to recognize these two deserving students, as well as provide them with their respective scholarship awards. We wish them the best of luck in their endeavors!
The Charles J. Marshall Memorial Scholarship – $500
This year’s recipient is Brian H.
Brian is a four year member of the Central High School Marching Band, serving as the trombone section leader his senior year. In addition, he participated in Cross Country, Academic Bowl and German Club all four years. Outside of school, Brian volunteers at his church and is involved with a FIRST FRC Robotics team that has competed at the World Championship in three of the last four years reaching Division finalists in his sophomore year. Brian is also an Eagle Scout and led the construction of an oxen loafing shed built to 1840s specifications at the Garfield Farm Museum for his Service Project.
Brian is planning to attend Marquette University in Milwaukee, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
The Family & Consumer Science Scholarship – $500
This year’s recipient is Melanie C.
Melanie is very involved inside and outside of school. While achieving high honors all four years, she was involved in the National and Spanish honors societies. Melanie loved to tutor lower level Spanish classes and volunteer for the toy and food drives held throughout the year. She was on the Girls Varsity Golf team for 3 years, and was the captain her final year. That year she also received honorable mention at the BNC Championships and qualified for Sectionals. Melanie has also been a competitive figure skater since the age of 2. During high school she worked as a Basic Skills coach at the Leafs Ice Centre. Melanie is very excited to see what her future has in store for her.
Melanie will be attending Marquette University in the fall studying Speech Pathology and Audiology with a minor in Spanish.
